This place is a ripe off.. do not take your care there.

I'm sorry you feel that way. I can not find a Mimi Mines in our customer database. However since you feel so strongly that we are as you say a "ripe off". Feel free to contact me directly and I would certainly love to address any realistic issues you have. Also, I believe it is spelled "rip" and "car", and not "ripe" or "care" for the context to which you I think you had attempted to use the words for your review. Thank you. I've been using these guys for 10 years now for strictly oil changes but their every day low $19.99 isn't so special anymore especially when you are waiting for an hour or more. I've been using Wilmington Tire & Auto, Midas (buy one, get one free coupons), and even the dealerships mail out coupons which I jump on b/c they provide a 72 pt. inspection and invite you into the shop to look at repairs needed. Customer service is critical in any business. Positives about Mobile Tech: -The owner Dave knows a thing or 2 about cars. -North Market is new, clean shop with good seating room. -Good diagnostic equipment for newer cars. Negatives about Mobile Tech: -The owner is arrogant, never takes responsibility when something goes wrong and was never taught the customer is always right (relatively speaking) because you know if you didn't have customers, you'd go out of business and Wilmington has a lot of competition in the auto repair biz. -Their labor pricing is high in comparison to other shops in town. Get a second opinion from another shop and you'll see what I mean. For example, if you get brake work done, they'll charge you for a can of brake cleaner for the front left/right and a can of brake cleaner for the rear left/right. OK, so this is minor $ but when you have a $4,000 job that can be a different story with all the duplicate material cost so carefully examine. To assume the customer is ignorant about how much materials and parts req'd to do the job is foolish and manipulative. -Since their 2nd business opened on North Market St, they have been backed up for weeks. Call them now and you'll see what I mean. Yes, you could say its b/c they are the busiest auto service shop in town but is it or are they playing catch up? -Very slow to respond to return calls or nothing at all. -They are more than happy to accept appointments which they are knowingly back up but take work anyways. So these are just a few things I've noticed about this business. If you are patient and have all the time and money in the world, maybe Mobile Tech is the right fit for your car needs but for the folks that work hard for their money and have limited time, I would suggest going somewhere else.

Micheal, you have brought your vehicle in two times since writing this... I even warrantied parts that I should have not and fixed a problem that both the dealer and another independent couldn’t. If we are so bad why come back? Or can you at least take this town. It’s pretty frustrating knowing you bash my business but still come back.

I love MobileTech! I moved to Wilmington from up north about a year and a half ago and was left with a strong distaste for the dealerships that represent the brands of both of my vehicles. Since stopping in on day one to check out pricing on an oil change to tires, brakes, spark plugs and so much more that I have had completed with them on my vehicles, I have always received the best service. They are honest and up front with their repairs and will let you know if there's a concerning item needing attention on your vehicle. These folks know their stuff! I was impressed to find that the entire staff of MobileTech attend monthly classes to further train and advance their teams so that they have the competitive edge above the competition. There's a definite reason why these guys are the best independently owned and operated automotive repair company along the southern east coast of North Carolina. I'm so happy to have found them and know I will be taking all of my vehicles to them in the future! Thanks for the great work and service Mobiletech!

On vacation, my car had an AC problem. These guys gave me a very reasonable price compared to other competitors and were able to fix the problem on the same day. Very friendly. Highly recommended

This is the only place I will allow to work on my accord coupe. Trustworthy, up front, great customer service, and always work me in when I need service. Only mechanic shop I would recommend.

Josh and Wes have always been very helpful at the front counter and have gone above and beyond in making sure I was looked after as a customer. I would highly recommend.

MobileThefts... I dropped my vehicle off here off of a recommendation. They claimed to had fixed my vehicle but when I drove literally half a mile from the shop. It broke down again. I dropped the vehicle back off & they told me it worked fine, wrong again. I left yhe vehicle for several days for them to look at and was sure to call several times to ask for a price. I was told by David the OWNER as well as doug I did not owe them a penny. Finally we find the real problem & agree on a price of 470. Fine, I call them 2 days later to double check on the price as they are known around the wilmington area to add extra fees. Sure enough my bill jumped up to over 600 dollars. DO NOT TRUST THESE GUYS. DO NOT

Mr Darden, I really would appreciate some honesty here. You brought me the vehicle requesting we program it, you stated you replaced your own throttle body and was told you needed it programmed. So we did just that but found the latest software for the PCM installed, how ever the throttle needed to be programmed (relearned) and we did that as requested. My technician test drove it twice after with no issues and parked it, we told you about the oil being way over due and you asked us to do it, so we did. You picked it up and drove it and it acted up again. So you brought it back and I explained that we would need to diagnose it, at which time I told you that would be $85 and that it would be a day before I could get to it. You agreed and my tech proceeded for the next three days to drive your vehicle for the intermittent issue of the throttle being non responsive. During this time we explained to you that we had determined it would either be the pedal sensor or PCM but that we needed it to act up. You had also called several times about what cost would be but me and doug explained then we had no idea of cost because we hadn’t got it to act up at the time. You then asked us to locate and fix a water leak, which we did, at no charge, by clearing the water drains of your sunroof. Once the tech was able to determine pin 5 of the PCM would stop sending 12v to the throttle motor intermittently, causing the throttle body to become responsive we called you with a estimate. The estimate was $470 to replace the pcm, you agreed however you stated you could not pay all at once and asked if you could leave it here, and pay half when we completed it and the half in a week and then pick it up, we agreed to help you with that. We specially ordered the PCM and you called back two days later saying you didn’t want to fix it now, you were told there would be a diagnostic charge plus he PCM because it was specially ordered. That’s when you became irate, you through a lobby charge, threatened to expose your penis on camera, and slammed our lobby door damaging it. Still, I kept my composure. You then come back to pay, after pleading with the company the PCM was purchased from to waive their no return policy, I was able to get it down to $48 which included a restock and shipping fee. Suddenly you changed your mind and wanted it fixed. I however declined to do so for obvious reasons. I know you mentioned after leaving the shop and this review you have a sick mother in the hospital and I do sympathize with you however I can not be treated like that nor my staff especially when we are doing the repair for half the cost of a new PCM. I wish you luck in life, but please don’t come back to my business.

Terrible experience here. Bad customer service to go along with being in bad part of town with the gate always open and them leaving cars unlocked. Would avoid going here to avoid being ripped off and dealing with below average customer service.

For starters, I have the worst luck with cars. I should probably just commit to being Amish. I don't typically write reviews, but today I feel compelled to. I have brought a couple of my cars to MobileTech over the last three years. Always last minute, always in a rush and always with upmost ignorance when it comes to automobiles. Most of my descriptions of what I believe is wrong with my car involved a lot of poorly executed sound effects and is probably worthy of being laughed at. Yes, MobileTech is competitive. They are a business. They have bills. They have employees who have bills. As a general manager myself, I don't see this as an issue. I don't see it as an issue because they have never 1) turned me away, 2) treated me unfairly, 3) been rude to me, 4) made me feel as if I had been taken advantage of. They do what they say they're going to and they do it efficiently, successfully and in what I feel is a rather short amount of time for a mechanic and I've dealt with a lot of mechanics in the last 12 years. They're human, they make mistakes but they own them. That says a lot all in itself. Today, I had an appointment with them which I called to cancel at the last minute because I got tied up at work and no longer had the liberty to leave the building and drop off my car. I was met with a counter offer from Josh that I was not prepared for. Rather than reschedule for another day, they offered to come pick up my car for me. From a professional standpoint, I tip my hat. There aren't a lot of businesses that are run by what I often refer to as "real people" anymore. They have personal standards as well as professional. I appreciate that. From a personal standpoint, even if I can get the job done for $20 cheaper down the road, I'm still going here because they stand by their work, their word and I know I'm getting what I'm paying for and then some. I don't need to be greeted by lounge chairs and red carpets, I need to be greeted by no bs honesty and depart with my money's worth and that's exactly what I get. Every time. I think Dave runs a fine business and for that, he can have mine.
